The protector system safety reversing sensors.
My garage door will not close unless i hold the button down.
After i hold the button down to close it the sensor lights come back on.
First check the sensor lights.
Press and hold the wall console button until the garage door is completey closed.
If anything interrupts this beam of light the garage door will not close and the ceiling light on the opener mechanism will flash as mentioned in the previous step.
You will find that the door will only move an inch or so in the close direction and reverse.
However the remote would not be able to close the door even if you held the button.
Another clue to the mystery was if you held the wall switch the door would completely close.
This is of course a safety feature to prevent the heavy garage door crushing anyone or anything that might be in the pathway of the door when it comes down.
Check for interference from adjacent photo eye sensors of any brand.
Check garage door for binding.
Door starts down then stops before it is closed.
I ve made sure there are no obstacles and that the sensors are aligned properly.
The transmitters remotes will not work to close the garage door.
Adjusting the protector system sensors fixed my problem and the door now operates correctly.
When this happens your garage door will only close by holding down on the wall button or wall console until the door fully closes.
When the door is up the sensor lights are off.
Clutter or obstructions that block the sensor are the first problems to look for if your door won t close or in extreme cases open at all.
