For local network access one does not need to use any wd apps or software.

To find sync settings select the start button then select settings accounts sync your settings.
Type in your apple icloud username and password then select sign in.
In windows 7 under programs select microsoft onedrive.
Instead one can access a local network my cloud device using windows file explorer or mac.
I recently purchased a wd my cloud home external drive model.
Wd offers wd sync for syncing content from a computer to the my cloud.
Wdbvxc0020hwt nesn and i have the my cloud desktop v 2 1 0 209 and wd discovery v 3 2 256 running on my windows 10 desktop.
When onedrive setup starts enter your personal account or your work or school account and select sign in.
In windows 8 1 search for onedrive for business then select the onedrive for business app.

Uncheck any items that you want to exclude and select apply when you re ready to start syncing.
Bottom line is the wd desktop app program has been end of life since 2016 and is no longer supported.
To stop syncing your settings and remove them from the cloud turn off synced settings on all the devices connected to your microsoft account and then go to the devices page select more actions for the device you want to manage and then select remove cloud backup of personal settings.
